Bomb Threat Proves to be Hoax

Patrol Units on Scene of Bomb Threat

On June 13, 2024, a resident received a phone call that stated there was an explosive device in their mailbox. The resident correctly called 911, and Deputies responded. Once on scene, they set a perimeter and requested the bomb squad while Fire and EMS staged nearby.
Once on scene, the bomb squad determined there was not an explosive device, and the call was a hoax. We appreciate the assistance of the Huntsville Police Department Bomb Squad.

When calls like this take place, even though there is a chance that it is a hoax, we must treat the incident as if it is a credible threat.
A hoax like this ties up valuable resources and increases response times for real emergencies.

Our Criminal Investigations Division(CID) will track the call as far as possible and prosecute to the fullest extent of the law if the perpetrator can be identified.

Thankfully, no one was injured at this scene or any other during this incident.
