Drug Enforcement Unit

The Morgan County Sheriff's Drug Enforcement Unit, led by Lieutenant Joey Coburn and Sergeant Jerald Jenkins, received the Award of Excellence at the Alabama Narcotic Officers Association Conference in 2025.

The Drug Enforcement Unit was credited with enormous drug seizures, including:
▪️Over 10 kilograms of cocaine
▪️Two pounds of fentanyl
▪️Over 38 pounds of methamphetamine
▪️424 pounds of marijuana
▪️Over two pounds of synthetic cannabinoids
 
Additionally, nearly a million dollars in assets, along with over 100 firearms, were also seized, which will further the efforts of combating narcotics distribution and trafficking within Morgan County.
 
Those seizures are reflective of the 220+ initiated narcotics cases that led to 121 arrests and over 320 criminal charges, many of which have successfully been forwarded to federal prosecuting agencies.
