Two Firefighters Injured, One is MCSO Deputy, Both Doing Well
03/13/2026
Last Friday, we shared about a residential fire in Union Hill area that injured 2 firefighters, one with Cotaco VFD and one with Brindlee Mountain VFD. We are happy to share that both are doing well.
One of them was our very own Deputy Knox, who is also the Assistant Fire Chief at Cotaco Volunteer Fire Department. During the event, a wall collapsed, and he sustained a concussion, 28 stitches, 3 staples, burns, and some deep bruising. He was pulled from the rumble by Deputy Couch, Corporal Pepper, and EMS/VFD, who were on scene.
While he is still recovering and has returned to work on light duty, we are grateful he will be ok.
Our area is blessed to have so many first responders who are willing to put themselves in harm's way for others!
