Armed Subject Apprehended After Fleeing Deputies

On January 6, 2026 Deputies with the Morgan County Sheriff's Fugitive Unit arrived in the 500 block of Plum Drive SW in Decatur to serve two felony arrest warrants on Daniel Nathan Severinsen.
 
At the residence, Deputies encountered Severinsen, who was armed and attempted to elude Deputies, leading them on a brief foot pursuit.

Deputies were able to apprehend Severinsen after he finally complied with verbal commands and dropped the firearm.
Severinsen, 40 of Decatur, was arrested on two outstanding warrants and charged with:
▪️13A-10-41 - Resisting Arrest
▪️13A-11-72(a) - Weapons-POPACOCOV Ex-Felon in Possession of a Firearm
▪️13A-10-52 - Attempting to Elude a Police Officer
▪️13A-10-37 - Dangerous Drugs-PPC Promote Prison Contraband (Drugs)
▪️Warrant- Probation Revocation: Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute
▪️Warrant- Probation Revocation: Possession/Receipt of a Controlled Substance
 
Severinsen was transported to and booked in the Morgan County Jail. No Bond.
