On April, 24, 2025, as Corrections Officers were overseeing the meal delivery in Booking, inmate Chaz Mandale Reed, 34 of Decatur, attacked two Corrections Officers. Mandale punched one in the face and headbutted another, breaking the Corrections Officer's nose.

The Correction Officer received medical attention and was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Reed, was in the Morgan County Jail after being arrested by the Decatur Police Department on April 23, 2025, and charged with:

• Robbery 3rd Degree
• Escape 3rd Degree
• Resisting Arrest

Investigators with the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division are obtaining a warrant for Assault 2nd Degree.
